Morning wake-up by snowshoes in Levi

3 hours

Easy

Start your day in Levi with a serene snowshoe hike through the frozen forests of Lapland. Enjoy a low-impact workout, learn about the local wildlife, and warm up with a hot drink and a snack.

Meet your guide in the Levi center for a quick introduction to your snowshoes. They are simple to use and require absolutely no prior experience. If you can walk, you can snowshoe.

Leave the groomed trails and village behind, pressing into the hushed taiga forest. The only sound is the rhythmic "crunch-swish" of your snowshoes pressing down on the fresh, crystalline powder, allowing you to float effortlessly over deep snow that would otherwise be impassable.

Witness the magic of tykkylumi—the Finnish term for "marshmallow trees" This heavy, hard rime ice and snow clings to the pine and spruce branches, transforming the trees into giant, otherworldly white sculptures. Walking beneath these snow-crowned sentinels feels like stepping directly into a silent, frozen fairy tale.

Your expert local guide will enhance the experience by sharing fascinating insights into the surrounding Lappish nature, wildlife, and culture. Move slowly and observe keenly, as the early morning is the prime time for wildlife tracking. Look for the tiny, perfect prints of the snow hare or the distinct trail of the elusive Arctic fox—subtle signs of the life that thrives beneath the snow.

Midway through your invigorating warm-up, stop at a secluded spot in the forest. Your guide will prepare a warming moment of Finnish hospitality. Pause to enjoy a steaming cup of hot drinks sweetened with organic honey served with a small, traditional snack. Feel the warmth of the drink in the clean, crisp air for a moment of pure comfort and connection.
